How to play
Creatures and eggs
Creatures belong to your account, not your hero. You find eggs on the road, incubate them in real hours and hatch them. One creature at a time is your companion.
Your companion
- Pick one creature you own as your companion. Its passive always applies, whatever hero you're playing. Each passive is small: a little more gold, crit chance, healing or the like.
- You can change companion anywhere except in the middle of a fight.
- Every creature's passive is on its page in the dex, once someone has found it.
Eggs and the incubator
- Eggs come from nests on the road, treasure chests, gate bosses, events, gathering, the daily gauntlet, world bosses and a starter gift. The odds page lists every source and its chance.
- The incubator starts with 2 slots. A new egg goes into a free slot and its timer starts at once. Incubation takes from 10 minutes to 24 hours, depending on the egg.
- When the timer runs out, the egg is ready. Open
/stablein Discord, or the Stable in the app (Around town), and tap Hatch to see what's inside. - A ready egg keeps its slot until you hatch it, so the next egg in the basket starts only then.
The legacy tree adds slots, up to 4 in all. Like the rest of the tree, they're bought with Echoes and kept by your account.
| Node | Echoes | Slots |
|---|---|---|
| Warm hearth | 100 | +1 |
| Brooding loft | 250 | +1 |
The basket
- With every slot busy, a new egg waits in the basket, which holds 20. Basket eggs move into slots oldest first, as slots free up.
- With the basket full too, the next egg turns straight into shards. Each egg's shard value is on the odds page.
Being away
- Incubator timers run in real time, whether you're playing or not.
- A ready egg waits forever until you hatch it. Basket eggs don't age.
- Nothing expires, rots or gets lost while you're away.
The Egg ready message
Turn on the Egg ready notification and the bot sends you a direct message in Discord when an egg is ready to hatch. Like every notification it's off until you turn it on. The settings guide has the details.
Duplicates, shards and family eggs
A creature you already own becomes shards, by its rarity.
| Duplicate | Shards |
|---|---|
| Common | 10 |
| Uncommon | 20 |
| Rare | 40 |
| Epic | 80 |
| Legendary | 160 |
- 120 shards craft the egg of any family you choose. A family egg always hatches a creature from that family you don't own yet, while there is one.
- The traveling merchant sometimes sells a family egg, for 4,000 gold before heir traits.
- That's the only pity for creatures, and it's published. The odds page has the rule and a worked example.
The dex and Sparks
The dex has 6 families of 5 creatures, one of each rarity. Filling it pays Sparks, once per account for each milestone.
| Creatures owned | Sparks |
|---|---|
| 5 | 25 |
| 10 | 50 |
| 15 | 75 |
| 20 | 100 |
| 25 | 150 |
| 30 | 300 |
Completing a family pays 50 Sparks more.
Death and money
- Death, heirs and resets never touch your creatures, eggs or shards. Your heir inherits the whole stable, smell included.
- Money never buys any of it. Eggs, shards, slots, incubation speed and rerolls aren't for sale, for money, Sparks or Stormglass.
